We named Zero Trust wrong
We named it wrong. Zero Trust was never about trusting nothing.
It was about making trust earn itself: every time, every access, every identity, without exception.
The word “zero” made it sound cold. Paranoid. A framework built on suspicion. But the organisations that implement it well don’t feel paranoid. They feel clear, because they stopped assuming trust existed and started building systems where trust could actually be proven.
There’s a difference between a world with no trust and a world where trust is never assumed.
One is fear. The other is discipline.
We’ve been selling Zero Trust as the former. It was always meant to be the latter.
